Silverdale Business Initiatives
Supporting a secure, connected and resilient business community
Creating a safe environment for local businesses, staff and customers is a top priority for the Silverdale Business Association. Through strong partnerships, practical initiatives and accessible resources, we are committed to reducing crime and building a stronger, more prepared Silverdale.
Our Role in Crime Prevention
Silverdale Business supports crime prevention by:
- Collaborating with key stakeholders – We work with the NZ Police, local board, and other agencies to implement crime prevention strategies tailored to the Silverdale business district.
- Providing security resources – We offer discounted security options and practical tools to help businesses improve safety.
- Sharing information – We keep members informed through regular updates, crime alerts, and resilience-building initiatives.
Our Role vs. Official Agencies
While Silverdale Business plays a vital role in supporting security efforts, we do not replace law enforcement or emergency services.
All criminal activities, threats, or immediate concerns must be reported to the New Zealand Police before being shared within our business community.
What We're Doing
- Collaborative Crime Prevention

We work closely with New Zealand Police, Auckland Council, the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board, and key safety agencies to actively respond to crime and anti-social behaviour in our area. Our aim is to be proactive, not reactive.
- Targeted Safety Projects

From installing CCTV in key locations to supporting rapid incident reporting, our approach is guided by feedback from our members and real-time data from local authorities.
- Regional Safety Leadership

Silverdale Business is proud to lead the Safer Hibiscus Coast Stakeholders meetings bringing together police, council, security providers and community leaders to coordinate efforts, share updates, and ensure a united approach to local crime prevention.
- Business Resilience Support
We’re building a toolkit of security solutions tailored to the needs of local businesses. This includes exclusive discounts on alarms, lighting, CCTV, monitoring services, and more.
- Shared Intelligence
We keep our members informed with regular crime trend updates, police reports, and local safety alerts. If there’s something you need to know, we’ll make sure you hear about it first.

- Report any situation that doesn’t require immediate Police or Emergency Services attendance

Report cyber crime/scams to CERT NZ
- CERT NZ is a new government agency
- Cybercrime covers a wide range of online offending where computers or devices are used to facilitate a crime or are the target of the crime.
- Reporting cybercrime is just like reporting any other offence. Call 111 in an emergency. For example, if you’ve received an electronic message with an immediate and believable threat such as “I’m coming around now and I’m going to kill you”, that would be an emergency
Graffiti removal
- Report graffiti vandalism online REPORT HERE
- If the graffiti vandalism is offensive (racist term, foul or obscene language or offensive symbols) or you want it removed within 24 hours, call 09 301 0101.
Cyber Security for Your Business
Protecting your digital presence is just as important as securing your physical premises.
Cyber threats are on the rise, and no business big or small is immune. From phishing emails and ransomware to data breaches and website hacks, a single incident can cause significant disruption, financial loss, and reputational damage.
Knowing how to identify risks and protect your business online is essential. We encourage all Silverdale businesses to take proactive steps to improve their cyber resilience.
