Crime Prevention & Security

Reporting A Crime

Reported crimes are collated by Police Intelligence and drive the allocation of resources and patrols. If you don’t report it, the Police don’t know about it.

Information needed when calling the Police:

-Where and when the incident occurred
-What happened
-Description of the person and of the vehicle the offender(s) left in

There are various ways you can report a crime. Always call 111 in an emergency.

Call 111: Emergency

-if it’s an emergency or there is an offender present
-someone is badly injured or in danger
-there’s a serious risk to life or property
-a crime is being committed and the offenders are still there or have just left
-any of these things are happening now or have just happened.

Call 105: Non-emergency

-for the Crime Reporting Line for non-emergencies and after the event
-The 105 non-emergency number is for things that have already happened and don’t need urgent Police assistance
-We encourage you to go online to 105.police.govt.nz to:
– Report any situation that doesn’t require immediate Police or Emergency Services attendance

Crime Stoppers:

– Call 0800 555 111 – to give information without revealing your identity, Crime Stoppers gives an absolute guarantee that calls cannot be traced. Calls are not recorded and the caller ID number is not able to be viewed in the call centre.
-Online: https://www.crimestoppers-nz.org/

Report cyber crime/scams to CERT NZ (new government agency):

-Cybercrime covers a wide range of online offending where computers or devices are used to facilitate a crime or are the target of the crime.
-Reporting cybercrime is just like reporting any other offence. Call 111 in an emergency. For example, if you’ve received an electronic message with an immediate and believable threat such as “I’m coming around now and I’m going to kill you”, that would be an emergency.

Silverdale Security Group:

You will need to be a member and provide your business name, name and mobile number.

Stolen vehicles

You can check if a vehicle is stolen on the Police website by entering an individual registration number, or an individual VIN, chassis or engine number (useful for scrap metal dealers and auto dismantlers).

Graffiti removal

-Report graffiti vandalism online REPORT HERE
-If the graffiti vandalism is offensive (racist term, foul or obscene language or offensive symbols) or you want it removed within 24 hours, call 09 301 0101.
