Head of Advocacy and Strategy, EMA

Alan McDonald leads the EMA’s policy agenda, representing members at both central and local government levels. With deep experience in corporate and public affairs, he has driven large-scale advocacy campaigns that have shaped national conversations and achieved significant results for business.

Alan’s work has firmly established the EMA as a leading voice within the BusinessNZ network, advocating on issues such as urban development, transport, supply chains, education, immigration, and employment law.

He also contributes his expertise to the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ), serving on its board since 2023.


Mauro Barsi

Head of Legal, Consultancy and General Counsel, EMA

Mauro is a trusted advisor and experienced advocate for employers and business leaders. With a strong foundation in employment relations, litigation, and HR, he helps organisations resolve issues quickly and effectively.
