Laser Electrical Silverdale
Board Member
Bryan Fairgray
I am currently 61 years old and I have been married to my wife, Adele, for 28 years. We live in Red Beach and I have lived in Orewa or Red Beach since I was 18 years old. I have two daughters and five grandchildren.
Three years after completing my apprenticeship at NZ Sugar (Chelsea), I started my business, Fairgray Electrical Ltd in 1986, when I was 23 years old.
We currently employ 14 full time staff and we have our office/workshop in Peters Way in Silverdale.
On January 1st, 2009 we rebranded our business to Laser Electrical Silverdale, after being invited to join Laser Group in 2008.
In 2013 we also bought Laser Electrical Warkworth and we now run two franchises.
I started leasing a building in Anvil Road in 1991 and then moved to Keith Hay Court in the late 1990's and we bought the building that we are now working from, in 2008. So I have been working in Silverdale for over 30 years.
Recently at our Australasian Laser Conference, we celebrated 15 years with Laser Group, and my young Project Manager, Evan Fairgray (nephew), won the Laser Electrical Employee of the Year in NZ.
I am a keen golfer, although I have never reached any dizzying heights with my skill level, I have enjoyed the game for 50 years and I usually play at least once a week.
I am a past President, Club Captain and long serving committee member of the Peninsula Golf Club, now known as Wainui, in its new location.
I hope that I can offer some of my business and practical experience at the Silverdale Business Association.

Silverdale Business funding
How we Operate
Silverdale Business was founded in 1986 and operated for 37 years as a voluntary subscription-based organisation.
In 2023, business and property owners in the Silverdale area voted to invest in improvements to enhance the local business environment and economic growth of the area by adopting the Business Improvement District (BID) programme, funded by a targeted rate collected by Auckland Council. The programme was established on 1 July 2023.
Silverdale Business’s targeted rate model is a hybrid model made up of a fixed rate of $400 plus a property capital value (CV) rate in the dollar (2023-2024 rate in the dollar of $0.00017919) to collectively reach a budget of $500,000. The BID partnership programme does not replicate services provided by Council, but channels the capabilities and knowledge of the private sector to improve economic outcomes and achieve common goals
